Macrovelo is not keto-only. If your plan is Mediterranean or a balanced deficit, fruit, yogurt, or a sandwich may be on-plan. This list is for people who chose the keto program and need something that will not blow a tight carb budget when they are away from the kitchen.
When hunger strikes far from home, convenience foods are easy. The useful habit is a small stash of shelf-stable, low-carb snacks — not a license to graze all day.
Here are 10 grab-and-go keto snacks that show up in real weeks.
1. Macadamia nuts
High fat relative to carbs. Keep a small portioned bag with you, and watch serving size — they are calorie-dense.
2. Hard-boiled eggs
If you have a cooler bag or a fridge at work, eggs are a simple protein-and-fat option. Make a batch on Sunday.
3. Beef jerky and meat sticks
Look for "zero sugar" or "no added sugar." Many commercial jerkies are glazed. Biltong is often a plainer option.
4. Cheese sticks or Babybel
String cheese is widely available and typically near-zero carb. Still count it in your day.
5. Olives
Single-serve olive pouches add fat and sodium, which some people miss in early keto weeks.
6. Dark chocolate (85% or higher)
A square or two of very dark chocolate (or chocolate sweetened with stevia or erythritol) can take the edge off a sweet craving. It is not carb-free.
7. Pork rinds (chicharrones)
Crunchy, usually zero carb, and salty. Quality varies; read the bag.
8. Avocado
A firm avocado, a spoon, and salt. Not the tidiest desk snack, but it works.
9. Canned sardines or tuna
Pouches of tuna or sardines in olive oil are a more substantial snack or light lunch.
10. Pumpkin seeds
Crunchy and relatively low-carb in a modest handful.
